Fort Bend ISD Launches Family Access; a web-based tool for parents to use to stay connected to their child’s education
FORT BEND ISD— Fort Bend ISD parents can stay connected to their child’s attendance, grades, class assignments, calendars and more with a new feature of the Skyward student information system – Family Access. The District realizes the important role parents play in their child’s education and is continuously looking for ways to help parents stay connected. In the fall of 2010, Fort Bend ISD implemented the Skyward student information system and the Family Access feature became available to all parents, beginning Jan. 24, 2011.
Family Access is a secure, web-based application that provides parents access to “real time” information including grades, homework, attendance and more. Parents interested in applying for Family Access should go to www.fortbendisd.com and click on the Family Access link under “Quick Links” or click on the rotating graphic.
Parents will need to complete the online registration form, print it and take it to their child’s campus. A valid government issued photo ID must be presented at the time the registration form is submitted. Once registration information is processed by the campus, a Family Access user ID and password will be provided to the parent via email. Family Access replaces the “Parent Portal,” and is a helpful, easy to use tool for parents to use to stay connected to their child’s education.
Lunch balances are currently not available in Family Access, but the District is planning to add that functionality in the future.
