**  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  **

The following message from Dr. Timothy Jenney, Fort Bend ISD Superintendent, was sent via email to all Fort Bend ISD Staff members:

Congratulations Fort Bend ISD!

We have just been notified that Fort Bend ISD has been selected by the Character Education Partnership (CEP) in Washington, D.C. as the only school district in the nation to be named a winner in the 2011 National Schools of Character (NSOC) program.  Earlier this spring we were named a “TexasSchool District of Character and a finalist for the national award.

This is exciting news for our district and is much appreciated.

This distinct honor is a tribute to each one of you, our students and our community.  Despite being challenged by the operational difficulties we face, you have pulled together and continued to keep your focus on doing the best you can for our students.  Collectively, each one of you has conveyed to our students that in Fort Bend ISD—as in life—it is just as important to be a good person as it is to be a good student.  Thank you, and again, congratulations!

Tim Jenney
