Four Fort Bend ISD Students Help Form Winning Gymnastic Team
FORT BEND ISD ― Four Fort Bend ISD gymnasts, who are members of Gymtex in Sugar Land, helped form a five-member winning team at the Texas Level 4 South State Competition, held recently in San Antonio. Team members Daisy Gustin (Schiff Elementary School), Cameron Howard (Scanlan Oaks Elementary School), Crystal Lee (Dulles Middle School), Laura-Marie Peeples (Baines Middle School), and Delaney Wolfe (St. Laurence Catholic School) earned two gold medals (in vault), four silver medals (two in floor, one in vault, and one in beam), and the title of “Best Small Gym Competitors” after completing various areas of competition. The girls, ages 7 to 12, represent the official USA Gymnastics Association to meet the qualifications at Level 4 in the areas of beam, floor, bars, and vault. The all-around scores of each gymnast also ranked in the Top 6 competitors. Additionally, Wolfe earned the “Number 1 All-Around” award and Gustin the “Number 2 All-Around” award in their age groups. Gustin also earned a score of 9.8 on the vault, which was the highest score among the 300 qualifying Level 4 gymnasts. Christina Zhou coaches the team.
