Austin High School's FFA Places Third at Annual Katy Invitational

FORT BEND ISD ― Results from the Annual Katy Invitational, held January 26, were highly favorable for Austin High School’s FFA Livestock Judging Team, which earned third place overall after competing against 65 schools. Austin’s Poultry Judging Team also competed at the Invitational (for the first time in the school’s history) and placed 29th among 43 schools.

The Livestock Judging Team includes members: Jacob Abels, Emily Braly, Lauren Braly, Melissa Frake, Ryan Green, Lily Hernandez, Kaitlyn McQuillan, Ross Ramirez, and John Sullivan. The Poultry Judging Team includes members: Tyler Marshall, Kejan Mehlhorn–Hock, and Courtney Sullivan.

The Katy Invitational is an annual contest that gives FFA students the opportunity to practice the skills they learn in agricultural science classes, while challenging students’ technical, leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills. For Austin’s FFA, the Katy Invitational helps kick off its career and development competition season.
