Tina Brown named Principal of FBISD Elementary #45
FORT BEND ISD ― The Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees named Tina Brown as the new principal for Elementary #45 at its Feb. 8 Board meeting. Brown is an experienced educational leader and has been serving as Principal for Arizona Fleming Elementary School for the past six years. She was an assistant principal at Arizona Fleming for two years and an assistant principal at Western Heights Public Schools in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. With a total of 18 years as a classroom teacher, she was an elementary teacher in Shawnee Public Schools and Stillwater Public Schools in Oklahoma, and in Brownwood ISD in Texas.
“It is a unique opportunity to be able to open Elementary #45, and I am honored to be the first principal. I am looking forward to working with the parents, and community members from this area and, of course, our talented students,” said Brown.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Texas A&M University, and her Master of Arts in Education Administration from Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma.
FBISD invites community members to submit names for the district’s 45th elementary campus opening in August 2010 - deadline is Feb. 26
The district is seeking community suggestions for naming its 45th elementary school campus located at 636 Glendale Lakes Drive in Rosharon. Nominations of names must be written and submitted in a brief one or two paragraph statement that contains biographical/historical data and reasons justifying the suggested name. Names nominated shall generally be names for persons or places. If a person, the individual should have attained prominence locally or nationally, and have made a significant contribution to society. If a place, the name should include historical relevance. Typically, the district no longer names schools after planned communities and/or subdivisions due to the fact that in many instances, students may come from several surrounding neighborhoods and subdivisions to attend the same school.
Suggested names for the Elementary #45 campus should be submitted to the office of Dr. Marc Smith, Assistant Superintendent for Elementary School, 16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land, 77479. Nominations may also be faxed to 281-634-1702, or e-mailed to norma.perez@fortbendisd.com.
The deadline for submitting names is February 26. After the deadline Ms. Brown will coordinate the naming committee. The goal is to have a recommended name to submit to the Board of Trustees for consideration at the March 29 Board Meeting.
