Congratulations to the Bush High School Boys’ Basketball Team for winning the 5A State Championship –

It’s first ever title!

SUGAR LAND, TX – Congratulations to the Bush Broncos Boys’ Basketball Team and Head Coach Ronnie Courtney for winning the 5A State Championship by defeating the Garland Lakeview Centennial by a score of 65-58 on Saturday, March 20, in the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. Team members Darius Richardson and Jordan Clark were named to the Region III All Region Team.  Richardson was also named to the All State Team and has been selected to play in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All Star game. In addition, he was also selected to play in the Texas High School Coaches Association All Star game. Fort Bend ISD is extremely proud of this remarkable team and its coaches and student trainers.

The Bush Boys’ Basketball Team players are: Travis Courtney, DeMarcus Gatlin, Jordan Clark, Darius Richardson, Rashard Davis, Cameron Ridley, Nate Clayton, Chibuike Chidomere, Arnold Lyall, Geron House, Ryan Williams, Tobi Tinubu, and Adrian Tepker.

The student trainers are: Kiarra Bates, Idia Osaren, Destiny Bogan, Nicole Ivory and Erica Boyd. The coaches led by Head Coach Ronnie Courtney include: Jeff Merchant, Greg Bell, Michael Wiggins, Jay Thornton, Clifford Wray, and Rodney McKee.

Houston Chronicle – FB Bush captures 5A crown: Broncos earn first state title in school history.  In the final minute of Fort Bend Bush’s state title game against Garland Lakeview Centennial, the Broncos’ bench players were on their feet, facing their fans and cheering along with them while eagerly awaiting the moment when the clock would run down and they could stand on the floor at the Frank Erwin Center to accept their gold medals as Class 5A state champions.
