Commonwealth Elementary Team Wins First-Place Sweepstakes Trophy

FORT BEND ISD ― The Commonwealth Elementary School (CWE) Math Masters received top honors after competing in a recent Texas Math and Science Coaches Association (TMSCA) Meet.  The CWE Math Masters competed against students from 25 Houston-area schools in four categories: number sense, calculator applications, general math, and general science. The CWE Math Masters won the first-place Sweepstakes Trophy after earning the highest score average of the four events. The team placed first in three categories (calculator applications, general math and general science) and earned second place in number sense.

Commonwealth Math Masters is an after-school contest math club for fifth-grade students. The club meets at least once a month to work on challenging math problems in preparation for the Texas State Mathematics League and Texas Math and Science Coaches Association competitions.
