FBISD Academy of Game Design and Development to open at Willowridge High School for the 2010-2011 school year – Parent Information Night on April 21

FORT BEND ISD ― Eighth-grade students throughout Fort Bend ISD and their parents are invited to learn more about the new Academy of Game Design and Development at a special Parent Information Night to be held on Wednesday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the McNair Auditorium at Willowridge High School, 16301 Chimney Rock, Houston. Incoming ninth-grade (or current eighth-grade) students from the entire district interested in attending the new Academy are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is April 28.

Video game development is an emerging technology field that provides engaging career options. Prospective employers need applicants who demonstrate the applied knowledge that is taught in this new Academy program. Interested students, who are detail-oriented, creative and like to see their work literally come to life, should apply to the Academy of Game Design and Development. They will be able to learn to use their creative minds to work behind the scenes to develop interactive, animated digital games and multimedia applications.

The Academy of Game Design and Development will prepare graduates to pursue career opportunities in the design and development of digital games, animation and multimedia applications. Courses in this program offer a foundation in game design and simulations through the study of 2D and 3D animation, graphics, conceptual art, lighting, and sound mixing.
