Lexington Creek Elementary’s DI Terminators Advance to Global Destination Imagination Tournament!
FORT BEND ISD ― Congratulations to Lexington Creek Elementary School’s fourth-grade Destination Imagination team, DI Terminators, on winning first place at the Destination Imagination state competition, held recently at the University of North Texas. The DI Terminators competed against other regional winners in the elementary division of the “Breaking DI News” challenge and scored the highest in the team challenge and the instant challenge.

Destination Imagination (DI) is a creativity and problem-solving program that requires teams to think quickly, work together, and devise original solutions to mind-bending challenges. Fort Bend ISD’s DI program is sponsored by the Gifted and Talented Department and welcomes students in grades K-12.
During the state competition, the DI Terminators were required to write and perform an original skit about a newsworthy event in a nation other than their own, reduce the props and scenery used in the presentation to fit inside a 30 x 24 x 48-inch container, use newsprint creatively in a costume or prop, and design, build and test a structure made only of newsprint and glue. Their final newsprint and glue structure held 770 pounds, but weighed only 41.53 grams. With their state win, the DI Terminators have advanced to the Global DI Tournament, which will be held at the University of Tennessee in May.
Twenty FBISD teams competed in the regional DI tournament, with five teams advancing to the state competition. The teams included: The Strikers and QVE Dream Team from Quail Valley Elementary School; Knuckleheads representing First Colony Middle School and Clements High School; and The Penta Ps, representing Baines Middle School and Hightower High School.
