Dulles High School’s Cx Debate Team Wins State Tournament!
FORT BEND ISD ― The Dulles High School Cx Debate Team (which includes students Kevin Clarke and Faraz Hemani) was recently named winner of the 2010 Cross-Examination Debate Conference 5A State Tournament after competing against 60 teams and 120 debaters from the Conference 5A division. This is the second consecutive year that a Dulles team has won the state title.
Clarke represented the championship winning Cx Debate team last year with team mate Shikhar Singh. This is the first time in the competition’s 100-year history that a debater has won two consecutive state titles while competing with different team members. Clarke also received the Gold Gavel speaker award in this year’s tournament and Hemani earned the fourth-place speaker award.
Also representing Dulles in the tournament were Usamah Andrabi and Zain Sheikh. Their team advanced to the Sweet 16 round of eliminations, with Sheikh earning the fifth-place speaker award.
