Board Elects 2010-2011 Officers, New Trustees Sworn In
FORT BEND ISD -Two Fort Bend ISD Trustees were elected on May 8 to serve three-year terms. Jim Rice was elected to Position 3 and Jim Babb was elected to Position 7. After the new Trustees were sworn in at the May 24 Board Meeting, the Board elected officers for 2010-2011 as follows: Sonal Bhuchar, president; Susan Hohnbaum, vice-president; and Daniel Menendez, secretary.
Bob Broxson retired from the Board after serving for three years. During his tenure on the Board, he has provided courageous leadership as he served as Board President and Board Secretary. Broxson is a person of character whose heart is always in the right place in doing what is best for the district. Fort Bend ISD sincerely thanks Mr. Broxson for his service and commitment to the students and staff of Fort Bend ISD.
David Reitz also retired from the Board of Trustees after 3 years of service in Position 7. He served as Board Secretary this year and has provided keen leadership during his tenure on the Board. Reitz provided valuable insights in his role as a Board Member, and Fort Bend ISD thanks him for his tireless service and commitment to the students and staff of Fort Bend ISD.
Former Board Member Steve Smelley spoke during the public comment section of the Board Meeting and thanked Mr. Broxson and Mr. Reitz for their service and dedication and their work on behalf of the Fort Bend ISD students and staff. Smelley also mentioned the District’s strong ‘AA’ ratings from both Standard and Poor’s and Fitch Ratings and stable financial outlook, that he said speaks well of the work of the Board of Trustees and the administration.
