Missouri City Middle School Welcomes NASA Astronaut to Campus Following Space Mission
FORT BEND ISD - Students and staff at Missouri City Middle School (MCMS) recently welcomed NASA astronaut, Stephanie Wilson, to the campus following her 15-day mission aboard space shuttle Discovery to the International Space Station STS-131.
The MCMS family took particular interest in the mission after learning the historical relevance of the flight. The April 5 mission marked the first time that four female astronauts had been in space together, and it would be one of the final flights for space shuttle Discovery, which is scheduled to retire this year after nearly 30 years in service. Equally meaningful to the MCMS family was knowing that Wilson carried onboard a MCMS spirit shirt presented to her by the school’s Parent-Teacher-Organization. Wilson returned to MCMS with the shirt, which was autographed by all crew members who flew aboard Discovery during the April mission.
