Three FBISD Students Compete on Championship Boys’ Gymnastics Team
FORT BEND ISD - Three FBISD elementary school boys helped form the championship Gymtex Level 4 Boy’s Gymnastics Team that recently competed during the USAG South State Championship. The team represents Gymtex, Sugar Land’s premier small gym. Team members Leo Dong of Cornerstone Elementary School, Cameron Jones of Austin Parkway Elementary School, Nicholas Roehm of Sienna Crossing Elementary School, and Alex McDaniel of HISD’s Neff Elementary School earned the first-place team trophy after receiving high marks in multiple events.
In individual categories, Dong earned a gold medal after competing on the parallel bars, and Jones received a gold medal after his performance on the high bar and earned a second-place “All-Around” medal in recognition of his overall high score. Roehm tied for fifth place “All-Around” after receiving four event medals. McDaniel achieved his personal best on the pommel horse climbing with a score of 14.6, an improvement from last year’s 9.1. The team and their coach, Christina Zhou, look forward to new challenges as they advance to Level 5 competitions next session.
