Students and Staff at Two FBISD Schools Support U.S. Troops through Supply Drive

FORT BEND ISD - As a show of support and gratitude for our U.S. troops who are serving our country, students and staff members from Bush High School and Quail Valley Middle School came together to collect supplies for the G-6 Unit serving at Camp Victory in Iraq. Capresha Bernhart, second librarian at Bush High School and sister to SSG Raymond Edwards, led the effort by recruiting student groups and staff members to take part in the project.

Members of Bush High School’s National Honor Society (under the direction of Abiola Farinde and Francis Sisemore) and members of the AVID Program (under the direction of Herman Burns, Shuntell Owens, and Alisha George) joined the staff at Bush and Quail Valley Middle School in the effort. Quail Valley Middle School provided support during the unit’s first deployment by providing toiletries (including foot spray, powder, and bug repellant) and snack food items that were unavailable to the troops. Frito Lay generously donated snack foods, and area businesses helped raise funds to provide G-6 Unit with materials they need for a barbeque on Independence Day.

Pictured are some of the troops who comprise the 500-member G-6 Unit.
