Congratulations to FBISD’s National Geography Bee Competitors!
FORT BEND ISD - Congratulations to the four FBISD students who competed in the state level of the National Geography Bee this year. Fifth-graders Archit Oswal of Settlers Way Elementary and Ross I. Trivisonno of Walker Station Elementary School, sixth-grader Rahul M. Nagvekar of Quail Valley Middle School, and seventh-grader Harsha Kethireddipalli of Sartartia Middle School advanced to the state competition after having won their individual campus Geography Bees. They were among the top 100 scorers (from approximately 5,000 participants) of a qualifying state test that granted them advancement to the state bee. Only .02% of contestants qualify for the state level, and FBISD represented 4% of that small group of qualifying students.
At the state competition, students competed in a preliminary round after which the top 10 qualifiers advanced to a final round. In the final round, Nagvekar finished third among the Top 10 State Geography Bee Finishers.
