FBISD CSTEM Robotics Team Earns Third Place at National Competition
FORT BEND ISD - Congratulations to the Fort Bend ISD CSTEM Robotics Team comprising of students from Marshall High School, Missouri City Middle School and Glover Elementary School on earning a top award at the recent 2010 National CSTEM Challenge competition. The team earned third place in the “mural” category of the challenge.
The competition is designed to connect three levels (elementary, middle, and high) of basic education providing feeder pattern schools with a project that allows them to work collaborative on problem-solving. The CSTEM Challenge integrates communication, science, technology, engineering, mathematics (CSTEM), social studies and art through an essential theme: “Everyone is an Artist and an Engineer.” The project also provides students with opportunities to see how their work affects all aspects of life, including endangered wildlife, and teaching the students about environmental stewardship.
Other categories of competition included: CSTEMbreak (social media), CSTEMgreen (Geographical Information Systems), Robotics, Sculpture, and Creative Writing.
Representing the FBISD CSTEM Robotics Team (front row, from left) are: Janice Little Placide, FBISD social worker and CSTEM Robotics Team sponsor; Rosalind Riggs, Glover Elementary School art teacher; Dr. Reagan Flores, CSTEM Founder and Director; Rosaura Jaramillo, Missouri City Middle School art teacher; and Rosa Garcia, Marshall High School science teacher and (back row) Stephen Udewenwu, Pablo Ramirez, Jacob Salazar, Ramiro Armendariz, Carrisha Cook, Jovita Gomez, Kristen Aguilar, Tomie Gomez, and Yasmin Hernandez.
